Dr. Diwakar Pokhriyal’s Dream Tale to become a published author

I always dreamt to become a published author. That was an extra period during my 9th Standard when I wrote my first poetry title ‘The School Test’. During 10th standard, while attending a history lecture I wrote the first short story titled ‘The Story of a Child’ which was circulated within the class. It was the year 2000 when I penned my first poem, very little idea I had during that time that these scribbling words will become a vital part of my life. My English Literature scores are not to be mentioned here and hence no-one ever insisted me to be a writer except a few of my school friends who have seen and read my poems/stories.

Poetry for everyone, Yourdreamtale.comBeing a part of middle-class family nor did I or any of my family members have any idea about the literature world. Fast forward to 2019, I have written 15 poetry books, 1 Hindi Novel and 1 English Short stories with another English Short Story collection is on the verge of printing. Due to my writing, I have entered into “Limca Book of Records 2017” for writing 50 different forms of poetry in my books Poetry for Everyone and Poetry for Everyone 2., I have won “India Star Icon Award – 2019”, “Top 50 Influencer Author 2k18” and Poiesis Award for Literature 2017 and 2014 and many more. There are various online interviews that I have given as an author and became a part of many poetry events.

Until my MBA, I used to scribble poems in my diaries, but during my masters, I came across the word ‘Passion’ and my writing took a different turn from scribbling in my diary to a published book. In terms of achievement, I can never measure it because now it has become a way of life and not a goal or a dream because I have now published poetry, short story, and Novel. Now it is only about writing more and more creatively and sharing it with the readers.

I have published my 1st book in 2011 and in the next 8 years, I have learned a lot about the writing skills and writing industry all thanks to my author friends and writing guru.

I came across the word ‘Passion’ and my writing took a different turn from scribbling in my diary to a published book.

This book is featured in Top 10 gives me immense pleasure. I am sure all poetry lovers will love this book as this book discuss 25 different forms of poetry in a simple and interesting way. There is no book available in the market that discusses the writing style. As a poet, I have faced a lot of hurdle learning different forms of poetry and I wanted to make it simple for all the future poets. I hope I have taken the right step in solving the same issue that I have faced 3 4 to 5 years back.

The writing has become such a part of my life that I keep on writing irrespective of time and subject. At few occasion I plan for the plot or the story (majorly while writing short stories and Novel) but for poetry I love the flow of thought and the rules of the structure. I have completed the first draft of my English Novel, which I am planning to publish next year along with a few poetry books.

My brother has initially helped me with the finances for publishing my first poetry book that fueled the passion and after that, I have never looked back. I have met few very good friends and my creative mentor Neelam Saxena Chandra Ma’m, a very down to earth person with straight forward reviews of writing and suggestions to improve them too has helped me a lot. Irrespective of being in a higher position in a government organization and herself a great writer she greets everyone with such simplicity that it is rare these days.

I must tell every aspiring writer, that you need to be patient with the results and expectations. On the other hand you have to be consistent with you writing and its improvement. Keep reading other books, not just the best seller but also the new ones. These will give you ideas and also will help you in understanding the formation of creative art. Always be ready to accept criticism that improves your writing but never lose hope because of negative ones. Most important part is that “Enjoy Your Writing”, because if you are not doing it then you will eventually lose interest in writing and your creativity will be low.

So keep writing and keep enjoying!
